Wyoming is gaining more clout in the Fish and Wildlife Service with the Trump administration’s selection of mule deer hunting and conservation advocate Joshua Coursey for a Washington-based position.
Co-founder in 2012 of the Muley Fanatic Foundation, Coursey revealed on social media last week that he will be starting with the federal agency on May 1. He declined to comment further. Agency officials could not be reached to comment Monday.
“Those of you who know me, know that I hold service above self with the utmost regard. It defines my existence,” Coursey wrote on April 16, adding that, “I look forward to using my skills and experience to serve the American people in the Trump administration.”
Coursey wrote that he did not yet “know all the details” of his new role. He will be joining fellow Wyoming native Brian Nesvik, the former head of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, who is currently awaiting Senate confirmation to lead FWS.
