House Republicans are moving to lower federal coal royalties, boost leasing and reverse Biden-era policies that halted mining is states like Alaska and Minnesota.

The House Natural Resources Committee on Thursday released its part of the legislative text for the Republicans’ tax, energy and national security party-line megabill.

The panel’s proposal, up for markup on Tuesday, calls for advancing the Ambler Road project, a sprawling mining road in Alaska that Democrats and environmentalists have opposed.

The legislation would also reverse a 20-year ban on new mining leases in Minnesota’s Superior National Forest, where a company has been angling to dig up copper and nickel. President Donald Trump has touted both efforts as priorities.
