Democratic-led states are challenging President Donald Trump’s efforts to block wind energy projects, escalating a courtroom showdown over the administration’s efforts to roll back climate change initiatives.

New York Attorney General Letitia James and attorneys general from 16 other states and the District of Columbia filed suit Monday, seeking to block Trump’s presidential memorandum and subsequent directives that have stalled onshore and offshore wind projects across the country.

“This administration is devastating one of our nation’s fastest-growing sources of clean, reliable, and affordable energy,” James said in a press release announcing the suit.
