The Senate on Thursday approved legislation to undo a Biden-era rule meant to protect parts of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

The chamber voted 50-43 for H.J. Res. 60 to reverse the rule banning off-road and all-terrain vehicles from sensitive sections of the recreation area in Utah and Arizona. The House already passed the measure 219-205 last week.

Lawmakers undid the rule under the Congressional Review Act, a means to kill newly issued rules without having to overcome the Senate filibuster.

During House debate, Natural Resources ranking member Jared Huffman of California said the rule was limited in scope and existed only to “protect sensitive resources.”
